Nestled in the picturesque village of Vothonas on the enchanting island of Santorini, canava Karamolegos stands as a testament to passion, dedication, and the pursuit of winemaking excellence. Founded in 1992 by Euaggelos Karamolegos, a oenologist with an insatiable love for wines, our winery has been a labor of love from its inception.
Driven by his profound understanding of oenology dues to his studies and a deep-rooted passion for wines, Euaggelos embarked on a journey to create exceptional wines that would capture the essence of Santorini’s unique terroir. With years of experience working in various wineries, Euaggelos honed his craft and developed a keen appreciation for the indigenous Assyrtiko grape, revered as the cornerstone of Santorini’s winemaking heritage and bestowed with PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) status.
Santorini’s vineyards, with their distinctive volcanic soil, ancient vines woven into basket-shaped formations, and the omnipresent Aegean Sea breeze, provide a truly unique setting for winemaking. Despite the challenges posed by the island’s harsh climate and rugged terrain, Euaggelos saw immense potential in these vineyards and endeavored to harness their bounty to create wines of unparalleled quality and character.
In 2012, the legacy of canava Karamolegos entered a new chapter as Euaggelos’s son, Nikos, joined the family business, bringing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas. Under his stewardship, the winery underwent a period of evolution and growth, culminating in the construction of a state-of-the-art facility in 2024. Our new building in Megalochori not only houses cutting-edge winemaking equipment but also features inviting and welcoming tasting facilities, where guests can indulge in a sensorial journey through our wines.
At canava Karamolegos, we take pride in our 50-acre vineyard, meticulously tended with care and respect for the land. Euaggelos embarked on his winemaking odyssey, establishing his own boutique winery and crafting exquisite wines under the esteemed label “Kasteli Wines.” With a steadfast commitment to tradition and meticulous attention to detail, he masterfully produced limited quantities of premium wines, including the revered Assyrtiko and Vinsanto, employing time-honored methods to ensure each bottle embodies the essence of Santorini’s terroir

New equipment
Canava Karamolegos made significant investments in state-of-the-art grape crushing, wine production, and bottling machinery, alongside acquiring new fermentation tanks and wine barrels. These enhancements were meticulously orchestrated to elevate production capacity while steadfastly preserving the impeccable quality synonymous with our wines
2005
New Vinsanto Barrels
Canava Karamolegos expanded its repertoire by introducing new barrels, extending the aging process of Vinsanto wines to enhance their complexity and depth, ensuring a sublime drinking experience for years to come.

Nikos joins
Nikos Karamolegos assumed leadership of the winery, infusing it with fresh vision and innovation.
